subhead_director_expectationsThe LCC Board of Directors consists of twelve to sixteen individuals, representing diverse demographics and fields of expertise. Board members strive to strengthen and support LCC by providing guidance to the Executive Director. Board member qualities include leadership, a desire to participate, a willingness to work and a personal connection to LCC’s mission. Officer positions on the Board include Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer. Meetings are held monthly between September and June, with the exception of December and February, and occur on the third Thursday between noon and 2:00 pm.

 

As a Board member, you agree to:

  • Be an advocate for LCC
  • Understand the LCC mission and programs
  • Serve as an enthusiastic community relations representative
  • Prompt others in the community to support LCC
  • Commit to serve one full term (term encompasses 24 months)
  • Adhere to LCC bylaws
  • Attend a minimum of five of the eight yearly scheduled Board meetings
  • Actively participate on or Chair a minimum of one LCC committee
  • Become a member of LCC

 

Inherent in the commitment to serve as a LCC Board member is an obligation to provide financial support to LCC. There are many opportunities to do so including pledging monetary donations and giving contributions of time and in-kind services. Listed below are examples of how to support the financial growth and overall health of LCC.

 

  • Make an annual financial gift at any level
  • Make a planned gift through a bequest or life income plan
  • Provide the names and addresses of donor prospects for special event invitations
  • Cultivate donors and prospects
  • Help link LCC with individuals and groups such as civics clubs, business councils, societies and associations
  • Write a personal testimonial or letter of support for LCC marketing purposes
  • Participate in the Speakers Bureau at various engagements
  • Pay for or solicit a sponsor to underwrite the costs to print brochures, newsletters, signage, banners, etc
  • Provide mailing services
  • Provide space and/or food for meetings and special events
  • Volunteer at special events
  • Donate software and office equipment
